Reno’s FMS girls struggle, lose to Karns

When Farragut Middle School’s Stephanie Torrence drained a 15-foot jumper midway into the third quarter, the Lady Admirals’ basketball team appeared to be ready for a down-to-the-wire finish with Karns Monday at FMS.

But the visitors proved their might and stayed unbeaten in the Knox County Middle School Basketball Conference standings with a 37-25 victory.

Becky Reno’s FMS girls continue to struggle this season, as their record drops to 3-5.

Stephanie’s jumper in the third period cut the KMS lead to 19-16, but Karns nailed a couple of three-point baskets to highlight a 9-0 run and go ahead 28-16.

A rebound basket from Keri Meade, who led FMS in scoring with 10 points, cut the KMS advantage to 28-21 with five minutes left, but the Lady Admirals would get no closer.

Stephanie Torrence ended with six points, followed by Taryn Truett with four, Bryanna Reveiz with two, and Brittany Doss with one point.
