FMS boys put losing streak aside with dramatic win
Series of late big plays earns 48-44 win against Halls

Rebounding from back-to-back home losses to Bearden and Webb in mid-January ó the teamís first two losses of the season ó the Farragut Middle School boys basketball team pulled off a dramatic 48-44 victory over Halls Monday at FMS.

Halls rallied from an 11-point third quarter deficit and led the Admirals 41-38 with possession and under two minutes left in the game. FMSís Andrew Martland then made three huge plays in succession.

His rebound gave FMS the ball, and he followed that up with a driving basket that earned a foul shot that tied the game 41-41 with 1:14 showing. Martland then stole a Halls pass and put the Admirals up 43-41 with a fast-break lay-up with 56 seconds left.

The Demons bounced right back with a three-pointer to lead 44-43 at the 48 second mark.

Esean Phillips then made a nice spinning move in the lane that produced a five-foot spinning shot that put FMS back ahead 45-44 with 22 seconds remaining.

Halls earned a one-and-one free throw chance at the 14 second mark, but missed the front end. Admiral Ty Canan rebounded and was fouled.

Canan hit the first free throw of his one-and-one chance, but when his second shot mis-fired, FMS big man Jeff Jameson leaped over a Halls player, grabbed the rebound and nailed a 10-foot jumper to seal the victory.
