OurView for Feb. 19

Kudos to the town of Farragut for being good stewards of the town’s money and abandoning the pocket park at the old First Utility District substation.
With a price tag of $310,000, it didn’t take a rocket scientist to realize that the money could be better spent.
What now remains is how will the town spend the dollars that it budgeted for the pocket park?
How about a down payment on a building for the performing arts? The Ford Theatre, without the dead president, of course. Just a thought.
In other matters, in this time of cooperation that newly elected 5th District County Commissioner Mike Hammond touted throughout his campaign, how about a little town of Farragut cooperation with the Knox County Election Commission and let voting happen at the Town Hall.
It’s a real turn-off for the electorate to have to battle for parking at the schools to vote, especially when their vote may be interrupted by a fire alarm.
