National poll: FHS ranked 11th, Waldrop named an All-American
- Thu, Feb, 19, 2004
Collegiate Baseball revels that the Easton Sports’ National Pre-Season high school baseball poll ranks defending Class AAA champ Farragut, No. 2 ranked nationally at the end of 2003, as the 11th-ranked team in the nation for 2004.
Collegiate Baseball also named Kyle Waldrop, FHS staff pitching ace and first baseman who led the team in a handful of offensive categories last season, as a “Multi-Position All-American.”
The Vanderbilt University signee was 8-0 on the mound in 2003 with a stingy 0.71 earned run average that included seven complete games, 49 strikeouts and only nine walks in 53.6 innings.
Offensively, Waldrop led FHS with a .503 average while hitting 10 home runs last season.
