Evans Road subdivision FMPC topic

The Farragut Municipal Planning Commission approved a concept plan for a 97-lot subdivision on Evans Road, but they want the developer to take a look at its entrance.

“Where the entrance is could possibly be a dangerous area on Evans Road,” said Commissioner Fred Jones.

The more than 67-acre proposed subdivision on the former Silver Farm, called The Farm at Willow Creek, would be located on the north side of Evans Road between McFee and Virtue roads.

Many FMPC members were concerned about the sight distance at the entrance.

“I would urge the commission to do what I did and take a look at that,” said FMPC Chairman Bob Hill.

Hill said he took a look at the entrance on his way to the FMPC meeting and was not happy with the sight distance.

“They have a heads-up on that,” said Ruth Hawk, community development director for the town.

“If it’s not addressed in the preliminary plat, then it’s not approved.”

The concept plan was approved 8-0. Alderman Connie Rutenber was absent.

In other business:

• The FMPC voted 7-0 to accept the private streets within Wyndham Hall subdivision as public streets. Commissioner Edward St. Clair arrived after the vote.

• The FMPC voted 8-0 to approve the site plan for a TDS substation to be located on the east side of Concord Road, just south of the Kroger /Bi-Lo entrance.

• The FMPC voted 8-0 to approve an amendment to the site plan for Stonecrest Shopping Center, located at 10931 Kingston Pike, to do slope remediation for the collapsed slope at the rear property line onto Sir Gooney’s Golf.
