OurView for March 4

Kudos to the town of Farragut leadership for pulling up its bootstraps and reapplying for a ZIP code for the town.

With a population rapidly overtaking the 37922 ZIP code area, it is time the U.S. Postal Service woke up and granted the town’s appeal.

The town has been growing since its inception in 1980 and has not faltered in its growth. And to keep this thriving community’s identity buried in a postal code that encompasses areas outside the town proper is simply not the right thing to do.

Mayor Eddy Ford indicated at the last Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen meeting that the process to have a Farragut ZIP code included a survey of town residents by the USPS.

It is the duty of each and every resident of the community to respond to that survey.

The town has been denied it own ZIP code in the past, and the time is now right for this to change.

But, it can only happen with the community’s support.

So, let the USPS know that a Farragut ZIP code is the right thing to do.
