Farragut High School’s two defending state championship teams began defense of their titles with impressive wins in season openers Monday.
Tommy Pharr’s Diamond Admirals rolled past Central 10-0 at John Heatherly Field behind Vandy signee Kyle Waldrop.
Waldrop, the staff pitching ace, worked four shutout innings to get the victory while also blasting a three-run homer. Outfielder Harrison Eldridge added a solo home run, while John Pigg stroked a double. FHS Relievers Rob Catapano and Phillip Sherrard each pitched one shutout inning.
Wallie Culbreth’s Soccer Admirals ripped South-Doyle 10-0 Monday at Farragut Stadium, led by four goals from Austin Rhodes, three from Aaron Doyle, two from Jared Britcher and one from Ben Backstrom.
