FHS football Lift-A-Thon draws big crowd to fieldhouse

The annual Farragut High School football “Bench Press Lift-A-Thon” drew dozens of fans, girlfriends and player sponsors March 9 in the program’s new fieldhouse. “We raise money for whatever we need in football, and this year it’s going for the guys to raise money for their lockers here in the new fieldhouse,” FHS head coach Eddie Courtney said, adding that each player’s goal was $250 “to pay for their locker.” As for a target date for total completion of the fieldhouse interior, “we’re hoping that we’ll start (by late March) on the inside and complete the (interior) walls and get the inside finished,” Courtney said. “Our goal is to have this done before the school year’s out, so this summer it will be in use.” As for cost, Courtney said it will probably take an additional $40,000 “to pay for the walls and heating and air and stuff” in addition to the $100,000-plus fieldhouse exterior price tag.
