ThroughTheLens — Gouging or not?
- Thu, Apr, 15, 2004
State Sen. Tim Burchett (R-District 6) has requested that Fiscal Review Committee Chairman Jerry Cooper take another look at the allocation program for UT football tickets. Burchett stated in his request letter to Cooper that “longtime contributors are being gouged” and that if a “working family” wants to “keep the two additional seats above their two season seatholders seats” they would have to pay an additional $2,000. Burchett contends that if this trend continues “the only ticket holders could be the extremely wealthy and the corporations.” Do you agree with Burchett’s view? Is it a waste of taxpayer money to have the Fiscal Review Committee look into this matter? Is UT football an issue in Farragut?
