FHS pair up for Hall of Fame, Optimist honors

Two Farragut High School student/athletes who have earned both state and national recognition have been nominated for prestigious Knox County honors later this year.

Scott Dix, FHS state wrestling champ in the 140-pound weight class, is the Farragut nominee for the Knoxville Sports Hall of Fame’s athlete of the year award. The talented junior compiled a 45-3 record this season and is the youngest of three successful Dix wrestlers to go through FHS.

Kyle Waldrop, senior pitcher/first basemen for the defending Class AAA state champion Admirals who has been labeled by head coach Tommy Pharr as the most talented player he’s ever coached in seven seasons at FHS, is the school’s nominee for the Optimist Club John Maurer All-KIL Award. A preseason All-American honoree, Waldrop is the Ads’ pitching ace and top power hitter this season.
