Lady Ads clip BHS, West; win 4 during Crossville tournament

After Vanessa Satterfield’s ninth-inning, two-out single lifted the Farragut Lady Admirals past archrival Bearden 1-0 April 14, the District 4-AAA leaders whipped West then headed west to Crossville.

The Lady Ads finished in the top four at the Plateau Invitational Tournament last weekend.

After losing to last year’s tournament runner-up and host, Cumberland County 5-1, Farragut took the second game Friday, beating Walker Valley 7-6.

After Saturday wins against Battle Ground Academy, Sale Creek and Hixson, the Lady Ads committed key first-inning errors and lost to Halls 3-1.

FHS entered this week with a 19-5 overall record while still unbeaten in district play at 8-0.

FHS 1 BHS 0

Amy Josephson got the ninth inning started with a base hit. Becky McCraw (3 of 4 hitting for the game) ripped a base hit up the middle sending Josephson to third base. Satterfield’s game-winning hit was a shot up the middle.

Winning pitcher Margaret Morris went the distance for Farragut, earning her seventh shutout of the season. FHS head coach David Moore said, “This was a great high school ball game. I give Bearden a lot of credit. This was tough, and could have gone either way.”

FHS 4 WEST 0

The Lady Ads continued their perfect streak in District 4-AAA Thursday, beating West 4-0.

Jessie Howard’s first inning base hit and stolen base set the stage for McCraw’s RBI hit. Kori Manes added an RBI in the fourth inning. Hits from Kira Perkins and Howard helped plate two more runs in the fifth.
