TDS cyclists sign autographs at Farragut Intermediate School

Farragut Intermediate School student Erin Healey of Cathy Rush’s fourth-grade class gets the back of her T-shirt autographed by Andrea Ratkovic of the TDS-Schwalbe Women’s Professional Cycling Team, who spoke to the FIS students May 5 in the school’s gym. “We come in and we talk about what we do, to give children an idea that there’s cycling out there as a sport,” said Anne Samplonius of Montreal, Canada, who served as the featured speaker to the children during the almost two-hour event. “And we go over some things like bike safety.” The TDS-Schwalbe team enters races across the United States from March through September, according to Samplonius.
