Cariten names Leonard head of TPA

Anne Leonard has been named manager of Cariten Healthcare’s Third Party Administration Services.

As Cariten TPA Services manager, Leonard is responsible for Cariten’s TPA staff management, including account service representation, pre-existing condition investigations and stop loss coordination. She is also responsible for internal education and will work closely with self-funded groups.

“Anne’s experience and in-depth knowledge of Cariten and our self-funded product and services made her a perfect choice for this position,” said Bob Parr, Cariten’s chief operating officer. “Anne has continually demonstrated the skills to make Cariten TPA Services the very best.”

James new executive director at Ijams

Ijams Nature Center removed the ‘interim’ from the title of acting Executive Director Paul James. A unanimous vote of the Ijams board of directors named James the new executive director, effective immediately.

“Paul brings a unique background of business and international non-profit experience as well as a wonderfully facilitative leadership style,” said Rebecca Bryant, board chair. “His commitment to the organization, vision and leadership style are exactly what Ijams needs moving forward.”

“Knoxville and the East Tennessee region are unparalleled in beauty. Ijams is no exception and we offer a unique and easily accessible slice of natural beauty just minutes from downtown. I’m honored to be able to direct the efforts of such a prestigious center to promote environmental education and conservation in this community,” James said.

As head of development, James was responsible for spearheading funding for the Mead’s Quarry capital project, helped increase Ijams’ annual operating fund by 10 percent and grew membership renewal rates by 15 percent. During his tenure he also initiated new trail and location sponsorship opportunities.
