Late error costly in 2-1, 11-inning loss that ends 38-9 FHS season; Morris strikes out 13

SOUTHHAVEN,MISS — An outstanding season came to a heartbreaking end Thursday for the Farragut Lady Admirals softball team.
Knox County rival Central took advantage of an infield error that allowed the go-ahead run to score in the 11th-inning, as the Lady Bobcats eliminated Farragut from the Class AAA state tournament with a 2-1 marathon victory.
Perhaps it was fitting justice in the minds of Central fans. A Lady Bobcat infield error in the eighth-inning of the Region 2-AAA final allowed Farragut to claim the region crown with a 1-0 victory over Central May 19.
Scoreless through nine innings, the Lady Admirals (38-9 final record) did fight back to tie the game in the bottom of the 10th. Kori Manes’ single drove in Becky McCraw to make it 1-1.
Losing pitcher Margaret Morris allowed seven hits, but struck out 13 in a complete game effort.
CHS winning pitcher Kandice Irwin allowed five hits while striking out 16. Central was eliminated later Thursday night, falling to Soddy Daisy 1-0.
