Soccer Ads cruise to 2nd straight Class AAA state title
Senior captains lead the way as Farragut crushes Oak Ridge 5-0

MEMPHIS, May 29 - Farragut High School boys soccer head coach Wallie Culbreth said his three active team captains grew both as players and as leaders after team leader Spencer Bobrowski was lost to an ACL tear in mid-season.

As a result, captains Aaron Doyle, Bryan Hill and Jared Britcher combined to deliver the knockout punch during Saturday's Class AAA state title match.

Two Doyle goals, two Hill assists and a goal and assist from Britcher led the Admirals past Region 2-AAA rival Oak Ridge 5-0 at the Mike Rose Soccer Complex.

Finishing 25-1-0 as state champs and No. 2 in the final StudentSports national ranking last season, Farragut's final 24-2 record in 2004 makes them 49-3 over two seasons.

Two first-half goals from Doyle - one after a 60-yard free kick assist from Britcher and the other a 30-yard Hill throw-in - put FHS up 2-0 at halftime.

Johnathan McCauley added a perfectly placed header goal from 15-yards out with 22:44 left in the game following another Hill throw-in assist, this one from about 35 yards out.

Britcher made it 4-0 with 20:49 to play after nailing his 19-yard direct kick from the left side of the box and beating the ORHS goalie on the left side of the net.

Adam Parsons polished off the scoring with a goal from about 18 yards out in final two minutes.

FHS goalkeeper Tony Milazzo pitched his second straight shutout in the state tourney, which included a handful of diving saves.
