Town of Farragut to host Small Cities Council
Staff Reports - Thu, Jun, 3, 2004
The town of Farragut and Mayor Eddy Ford will play host to approximately 24 mayors and other elected officials from small cities across the country as they gather in Farragut for the annual Small Cities Council Steering Committee summer meeting June 10-13.
During the meeting, the town of Farragut Board of Mayor and Aldermen will proclaim Friday, June 11, as “Small Cities and Towns Day.”
The event is one of many ways that the Small Cities Council lobbies for small cities and towns across the country.
The Small Cities Council is one of many policy committees that advise the National League of Cities, the oldest and largest organization representing municipal governments throughout the United States.
In addition to their work during the conference, the mayors and their families will enjoy many of the recreational opportunities that are available in Farragut and the surrounding East Tennessee community.
In December 2003, Ford was appointed chairman of the Small Cities Council Steering Committee by the National League of Cities chairman, Charlie Lyons.
