OurView — Farragut is the example this week

The town of Farragut is poised to host the National League of Cities Small Cities Council Steering Committee meeting this week.

Farragut Mayor Eddy Ford, who is the chairman of the committee, says this is a “great opportunity to see and learn from each other,” as 24 representatives of the 37 members of the committee descend on Farragut today.

Ford says that representatives will be coming from as far away as California and Oregon to sample the successes of Farragut.

The farragutpress joins with the mayor in welcoming the members of the committee and their families to Farragut.

Mayor Ford should be congratulated for being instrumental in bringing these visitors to the town.

It’s not every day that representatives from across the nation come to a town to see how well it works.

Ford has touted to the members of the NLC that Farragut is a great municipality, which accomplishes a great deal with no property taxes and no debt.

Local citizens will have the opportunity to interact with some of the visitors at the town of Farragut’s “Fun with Farragut’s Fleet” scheduled on the lawn of the Town Hall Saturday.

The delegation will also be taken to several restaurants and businesses throughout Farragut to dine and shop.

All in all, the three-day event is a great opportunity to show representatives from 28 states why Farragut is one of the best places to live in the United States. Well done, mayor.
