The town of Farragut and its monetary contribution to the Knox County Schools system has been the brunt of several presstalks in recent weeks.

The town presently remits to the county 50.5 percent of its Local Option Sales Tax to Knox County’s general fund, which delves monies to budget items at its discretion. In addition, the town donates to Farragut schools approximately $24,000 each year. Is Farragut giving its fair share? Should the town of Farragut find a way to generate more funds for public education? If so, should Farragut residents being willing to pay a school tax, or have a property tax levied in Farragut to support schools?

Call presstalk, 671-TALK.
