Golf 865 tees off in Farragut

Golf enthusiasts in and around the Knoxville area may have another reason other than the balmy weather to hit the links-lower prices. is a new marketing and software company designed with both the golfer and golf course owners in mind.

“Golf865 is a real service that is free to the golfer as well as to the golf course owners,” said owner Dave Dalton. “When golfers and (golf) course owners begin to take advantage of our Web site service, I think that they will find that this is the best thing to happen to the Knoxville golf community.”

The concept behind is to help golfers to play more golf for less money, while allowing course owners to fill less desirable tee times, thus decreasing marketing and advertising costs.

Cypress Golf Solutions of Scottsdale, Ariz., is the parent licensing company of Dalton, who has a marketing background, is licensed in the state of Tennessee and has been formally trained to facilitate this service.

Dalton noted that when this concept began in Arizona, golf course owners expressed resistance.

“The course owners were concerned that we were devaluing their tee times by offering discounted prices,” he said. “In reality, the prime tee times would have been booked anyway. We are filling the less desirable times, thus bringing more golfers and more revenue to the courses.”

Dalton also noted that Americans have been using this type of service since the 1990s in order to book airline tickets and hotel rooms.

“Now this service has trickled down to the golf community,” he said.

In order to join, golfers simply need to log on to the Web site and sign up for the service.

“There is no subscription or annual fee,” Dalton said. “All that the golfer needs to do is use this service to book their tee times,”

Dalton is currently working with Dead Horse and Laurel Valley golf courses, and is negotiating with owners of public and semi-private course owners in the greater Knoxville area as well as Crossville, a golf destination resort area.

After Dalton establishes this area he has plans to focus on other major cities in Tennessee.

Dalton stated that this Web site gives the golfer access to some of the best golf courses around the country.

“Most golfers are familiar with the Robert Trent Jones golf trail in Alabama, and I’m in the process of negotiating with them right now,” he said.

Dalton also invites customers to join his online mailing list in order to gain valuable golf information as well as offers for free rounds of golf.

According to Dalton’s statistics, golfers who use will play 30 percent more golf than those who do not. Dalton attributes this to the fact that low cost is a motivator for the average golfer.

“We guarantee that we will have the lowest possible posted price for the customer. We are bringing more golf to the community and more revenue to area golf courses. More golf, less money,” he said.
