Bearden High School freshman and parent orientation Aug. 11

Bearden High School is planning a special orientation event from 9:45 a.m. to 12 noon, Wednesday, Aug. 11, to welcome all entering freshmen and their parents.

The purpose of this “day-before-school-starts” event is to help new students feel more confident and at ease with their transition to high school. Students should plan to arrive by 9:45 a.m. in the West Mall to pick up an information packet, meet their “Bearden Buddy,” and find their place in the auditorium for instructions.

During the morning they will have the opportunity to tour the school, locate their classes, meet their teachers, and receive last minute instructions from both staff and students.

Parents are invited to come and gather in the cafeteria for refreshments and an opportunity to meet one another. Representatives from Bearden High School’s staff and PTSO will be on hand to share general information about the school, opportunities for parent involvement and its Parent Network.

Tours of the school will also be available. Bearden High is a place where parents are needed and wanted, administration officials said. Bearden T-shirts ($12) and other spirit items will be available for purchase from the school store.
