Reed, Scheiderer receive scholarship


Lindsey Reed and Ashley Scheiderer were awarded the Michael David Greene Memorial Scholarship at the Farragut High School Band Banquet May 11.

Reed is the daughter of Rob and Judy Reed. She was a clarinetist in the FHS Band. She will attend Middle Tennessee State University and plans to major in music education.

Scheiderer is the daughter of Kevin Scheiderer and Marilyn Whitworth. She also was a clarinetist in the FHS Band. She will attend the University of Tennessee and plans to major in pre-med.

The Michael David Greene Memorial Scholarship was established in 1995 by David and Janet Greene in memory of their son, Michael, who died of brain cancer in 1994.

This is the 10th year the scholarship has been awarded. A total of 19 students have received the scholarship, which is endowed at the East Tennessee Foundation.

The scholarship of $1,250 for each student is awarded to a college-bound senior who is a member of the Farragut High School Band and exhibits Michaelís qualities of real and fervent effort, kindness, courage, determination and dignity.
