Physicals required for Knox student-athletes participating in all TSSAA-sanctioned sports


Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association-sanctioned sport.

Mike Carroll, Farragut High School athletic director, said the physicals are mandatory for sanctioned school sports. These sports include football, golf, cross country, track, wrestling, basketball, soccer, baseball softball, tennis, volleyball and cheerleading.


Knox County students interested in trying out for non-club school sports during the 2004-05 school year must undergo physical examinations.

Carroll said non-sanctioned sports are considered clubs, so physicals are not required from either the Knox County school board or the TSSAA to participate. However, Carroll added that any school may require physical under their own regulations.

According to TSSAA regulations, any student who undergoes a physical examination after May 1 is covered for the following school year.
