Farragut gives the gift of life
Medic issues emergency appeal

Medic Regional Blood Center issued an emergency appeal for A-Positive and O-Negative donations Wednesday, July 7.

Medic currently is out of A-Positive units and has pending hospital orders for 33 units; officials say the recommended on-hand supply is 500 units. Medic also has only 12 O-Negative units; recommended on-hand supply is 150 units.

Medic officials say it is critical to replenish the blood centerís supply of both A-Positive and O-Negative. In Knoxville, you can donate blood at the blood center located at 1601 Ailor Ave.

For a blood drive in your county, call (865)524-3074 or visit Medicís Web site at www.medicblood.com.

Donors must have positive identification, be at least 17 years old and weigh at least 110 pounds. There is no upper age limit for donating blood.
