AAU 13 & Under Baseball National Championship opener a border state battle
Twenty teams from nine states are represented


Twenty teams from nine states have convened in Farragut and Knox County this week for the AAU 13 & Under Baseball National Championships.

In addition to teams from Tennessee, teams from Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, North Carolina, Ohio, South Carolina have battled into Thursday’s action looking for a national championship.

Local teams battling for glory are the Knoxville Thunder, Knoxville Yard Dogs and Knoxville Storm. Following opening ceremonies at Lakeshore Park in West Knoxville last Sunday, July 18, teams began fighting it out at three venues Monday morning.

Action at Mayor Bob Leonard Park Monday included the Yard Dogs’ game against the Players Edge Elite of Lexington, Ky. (pictures above).

Championship round games begin Friday, July 23. Tickets are $8 for adults, $4 for children ages 12-and-under.
