Brenna Dixon, 5, and (background) Emory Hockett, 4, were among the children who enjoyed the new spray ground at Carl Cowan Park Thursday, July 29. Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale said it was built to replace an underused pool that was difficult to maintain. The new structure which features several apparatus that spray water doesn’t require lifeguards; admission is free. Dixon was one of the children from Kiddie Kottage Learning Center day care who routinely spends up to four hours at the park. Before the new Northshore Drive park opened, the group drove from Concord to Volunteer Landing to play in the water feature there.
