•Fall registration set to begin at Pellissippi State

Registration for the fall semester will be Aug. 19, 23 and 25 at Pellissippi State Technical Community College. Final registration for fall will be held Aug. 19 and 25 at the Pellissippi campus on Hardin Valley Road, Aug. 23 at the Blount County Center and the Magnolia Avenue campus, and Aug. 25 at the Division Street campus. Hours are from10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. New students should complete the application process before final registration. Returning students may register any time prior to the end of the final registration period on the college’s Web site at www.pstcc.edu. Aug. 25 is the last day to register and pay fees for fall semester. Classes begin Aug. 30. For information call (865) 694-6568 or visit www.pstcc.edu.



•Roane State student receives Coca Cola scholarship

Roane State student Charlotte Lee of Farragut has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation. Lee is in the Occupational Therapy Assistant program at the college’s Oak Ridge campus. The Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation awards 400 scholarships annually to students at institutions granting two-year degrees. All recipients have demonstrated academic success and performed 100 hours of community service within the past 12 months.



•LCUB recognizes scholars

The Lenoir City Utilities Board annually recognizes the achievements of one outstanding senior from high schools in the utility company’s service area. Daniel M. Westervelt of Farragut High School, Zachary R. Christiansen of Webb School of Knoxville, Andrew T. Myers of Karns High School, Hoa Hoang of Knoxville Catholic High School and Morgan A. Farmer of Lenoir City High School were recently honored. In addition to sponsoring scholarships for graduates, LCUB sponsors school-based activities such as the Farragut Primary School Fall Festival and the Cedar Bluff PTSA Community Festival as well as many others. •Farragut Middle to hold open house

Farragut Middle School will have an open house from 6 to 8 p.m., on Monday, August 9, for all sixth grade students and transferring sixth, seventh and eighth grade students and their families. •St. John Neumann Catholic School accepts applications

St. John Neumann Catholic School is currently accepting applications for new students in grades K through 8 for the 2004-2005 school year. Please contact the school office at 777-0077 for more information. Appointments for grade level 1-8 testing may only be made for students with completed applications.



•Pellissippi State offers piano lessons

Pellissippi State Technical Community College will offer “Instant Piano for Hopelessly Busy People” from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 19. This is a beginning class in chord piano, where students will learn the chords needed to play any pop song, any style, any key, reading chord symbols. Students will learn how to embellish songs using the secrets and magical shortcuts of professional piano players. To register, call 865-539-7166.
