Local swimming teams in top-10 at GKAISA meet


With 14 total first-place finishes from individual swimmers, two Farragut youth swim teams finished in the top 10 among a 32-team field at the 2004 Greater Knoxville Area Interclub Swimming Association Meet July 30 to Aug. 1.

With four first-place individual finishes at the University of Tennessee Student Aquatic Center, the Village Green Gators captured fourth place. With 10 individual first-place finishes, the Sugarwood Stingrays finished eighth.

Concord Hills Recreation Association finished 11th and Fox Den Country Club claimed 18th place.

SUGARWOOD CHAMPS

• Max Ward, 8, in the boys 8 & under 100-yard individual medley (1:27.58); and first in the 25 breaststroke (:20.20)

• Jenny Darby, 10, in the girls 9-10 100 IM (1:12.02); first in the 25 backstroke (:15.80); and first in the 50 freestyle (:28.86)

• Nicki Galler, 11, in the girls 11-12 100 IM (1:10.96)

• Michael James, 14, in the boys 13-14 200 IM (2:16.89); and first in the 50 butterfly (:26.82)

• Ashley Quinn, 16, in the girls 15 to 18 50 breaststroke (:32.96)

• Cecilia Wille, 14, in the girls 13-14 freestyle (:57.71)

VILLAGE GREEN CHAMPS

• Rebecca Jameson, 8, in the girls 8 & under 25 freestyle (:16.38); and first in the 25 backstroke (:19.63)

• Jessie Howard, 15, in the girls 15 to 18 50 freestyle (:25.42)

• Samantha Webb, 12, in the girls 11-12 100 freestyle (1:02.55)

CONCORD HILLS CHAMPS

• Jonny Riner, 18, in the boys 15 to 18 freestyle (21:85)

• Brady Peterson, 18, in the boys 15 to 18 freestyle (:46.64)
