Wins vs. Science Hill, LCHS lifts BHS girls soccer

With his defense tight as expected, coach Eric Turner’s Bearden High School soccer team is out of the game quickly following a big home win against Science Hill and a road victory at Lenoir City last week.
Beating Science Hill 2-0 in the season opener Aug. 16 at BHS, the state’s No. 10-ranked Class AAA Lady SoccerDawgs picked up a first-half goal from Julie Koch and a late second-half goal from Sarah Bumpas. Bearden had a 10-7 edge in shots-on-goal.
At LCHS last Thursday, Aug. 19, Koch assisted on Sara Rochester’s first-half goal that stood up as the winning tally.
BHS had a 20-12 advantage in shots-on-goal.
