•Yates awarded degree

William Courtney Yates of Knoxville was awarded the Bachelor of Science in pre-pharmacy from Lipscomb University in the August commencement exercises.



•Horton, Nennstiel inducted to Order of Gownsmen

William Horton, son of Dr. and Mrs. William Don Horton, and son of Ms. Tracy Fox Horton and Amelia Nennstiel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Nennstiel Jr., were inducted into the Order of Gownsmen at the University of the South’s opening convocation for the 2004 semester.



•FHS Forensic Team takes honors

The Farragut High School Forensics Team competed at the Heritage High School forensics tournament Saturday, Sept. 11. Winners were Kim Page, first- place for after-dinner speaking, second-place for poetry interpretation, fifth-place for humorous interpretation; Lauren Schaefer, first-place for solo acting; Tony Feole, third-place for solo acting; Carrie Bodak, third-place for storytelling; Lauren Schaefer and Andrew Felts, third-place for duet acting; Dillon Lambert and Andrew Felts, fourth-place for duo interpretation; Charlie Sells, fifth-place for extemporaneous speaking; Tony Feole and Elizabeth Hutson, fifth-place for duet acting; Emily Poulsen, sixth-place for storytelling and Elizabeth Hutson, sixth-place for solo acting. The next forensics tournament will be Saturday, Sept. 25, at West High School. For more information on forensics at Farragut High School, call Mr. Best or Ms. McMahan at 671-7167.



•Bearden hosts college night

Representatives from 150 colleges and universities will be at Bearden High School from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12. All interested students and parents from both Bearden and Farragut High Schools should plan to attend this event.



•Inclement weather notice in place for FHS

The Farragut High School Administration announces that in the event of inclement weather, parents should listen to the news media for announcements about school cancellations as the media is often contacted before the school receives official notification.
