‘Speaker Series’ a hit for Chamber


The Farragut/West Knox Chamber of Commerce Speaker Series Breakfast was held at Fox Den Country Club, Tuesday, Sept. 28.

More than 120 members and guests attended. The guest speaker was Joan Cronan, University of Tennessee women’s athletic director. Baptist Health Systems sponsored the breakfast. Additional sponsors were Earth Fare Supermarket, First Utility District, Total Works Spa and the Farragut Family YMCA.

Barbara Chill of Baptist Health System said she was honored to be a part of the chamber and welcomed guests to visit Baptist Hospital West and Baptist Hospital for Women located in Farragut.

Chamber president Bettye Sisco greeted the guests, thanked the sponsors and reminded members of the mission the Farragut/West Knox Chamber of Commerce. She said, “Our mission is to strengthen and support our community by promoting business growth and development.”


Sisco also welcomed special guests including State Sen. Tim Burchett, Farragut Mayor Eddy Ford and town of Farragut Alderman Dot LaMarche. After introducing Chamber board members in attendance, Sisco reminded the guests of the continuing education grants given by the chamber. She then announced the three recent grant recipients; Jim DeTar of the LaBlanc Group, Elizabeth Adams of Garde Bien Spa Salon and Marla Taylor of Madison spa.

Cronan presented a 20-minute motivational talk and fielded questions about the Lady Vols athletic program.

Mayor Ford said the presentation was “wonderful” and that Cronan “hit on all of the important points.” He said, “I took notes so that I can relay the speech to my wife when I get home.” Ford also said that the food was wonderful and he enjoyed seeing all of the chamber members together. “This is just great for our community,” he said.

Kim Kazmier and Ellen Hubrig represented Farragut Middle School. Kazmier said, “The middle school has been in the chamber for many years.” She added, “It’s good for the schools and the local businesses to have a strong relationships.”

Emily Lenn, principal of A.L. Lotts Elementary School, attended. Lenn is also a member of the chamber board. She said she was excited to hear Joan Cronan speak and enjoyed visiting with chamber friends.

The Speaker Series Breakfasts are held three times a year. The next breakfast will be at Fox Den Country Club, at 7:30 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9. Mayor Ford will be the guest speaker.
