Schools celebrate Red Ribbon Week

October 25-29 is National Red Ribbon Week, a time when students will celebrate living a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Farragut Intermediate School children will sign a commitment banner in the cafeteria at lunchtime to show their support for living drug-free. Candy will be distributed with a note that reads, Be a Smartie, Don’t Do Drugs. Tuesday, Oct. 26 is Turn Your Back on Drugs Day, when the kids wear their clothes backwards or wear something red.

Farragut Middle School also celebrates Red Ribbon Week.

The theme for this year is “Too Smart to Start.” The school has activities planned for the week including the play “Menace,” sponsored by the Metropolitan Drug Commission with the focus on underage drinking. They have a Parent Connection brown bag luncheon planned for Thursday, Oct. 28, and a guest speaker is on the agenda. Candy will be passed out to the children before school begins.
