FHS boys golf 5th at state; Bearden’s Woods ties for 6th

SAVANNAH — Making state tourney trips a habit, the Farragut High School boys golf team finished fifth at the Class AAA state tournament at Pickwick Landing State Park Oct. 12-13.

FHS junior Brandon Bunn finished tied for 14th with a 150. “Brandon had a real good round the second day, shot seventy-two, in tough conditions,” FHS head coach Mike Driver said. After a rough start, “the last twenty-seven holes he was two-over-par, so I thought he did a good job.”

Senior Blair White finished at 155, while senior Carl May shot 158. “He’s been in the top five (on the team) the last couple of years, and improved so much,” Driver said of May.

Bearden’s Michael Woods finished tied for sixth (147). “He actually shot thirty-two on the back nine (holes) the last day,” BHS head coach John Heins said, adding that although Woods didn’t always play up to his capabilities this season, “he never quit ... he was a positive guy the whole year.”
