• College-bound high school students can take the ACT Assessment on Saturday, Dec. 11, the next national test date. The deadline for postmark registration is Friday, Nov. 5. The late registration deadline is Thursday, Nov. 18. An additional $15 fee is required for late registration. Students can get registration materials from their guidance counselor or register at www.actstudent.org. The test fee is $28. Free sample tests are available from high school counselors and sample questions can be found on the ACT’s web site.



• Greenway School, located at 544 Canton Hollow Road, is having a visitor’s open house from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 7. Interested families are invited to tour the classrooms, meet the teachers and ask questions about Greenway’s advanced curriculum for grades 6-8. No reservation is necessary. To reach Greenway School from I-40, exit Lovell Road, proceed south across Kingston Pike. The school is approximately one mile further on the left. •The Smoky Mountain Counseling Association, Knox County High School Counselors and the University of Tennessee are hosting the 13th annual College and Career Fair from 6 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 21, at the Knoxville Center Mall. All area high school students of any age and their parents are invited to this fair. There will be representatives present from a number of vocational and technical schools as well as from the armed forces and more than 100 colleges. Numerous area businesses and industry representatives will be available to discuss employment opportunities. The Smoky Mountain Counseling Association will award three $500 scholarships. These are awarded through random drawings to three attending qualifying seniors. Seniors may receive their scholarship applications from their high school guidance counselors. Applications and rules are also available on the Knox County Schools Web site at www.kcs.k12tn.net.



• The Episcopal School of Knoxville will host an open house from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 24. Interested families with children in grades K-through-8 are invited to attend. Faculty and staff will be available for tours and questions regarding curriculum and extracurricular activities. The school is located at 950 Episcopal School Way in West Knoxville off Lovell Road. • Farragut High School Marching Admirals will host their annual citrus fruit sale between Oct. 21 and Nov. 19. Saturday, Nov. 13 is BLITZ day and band members will go door-to-door in Farragut communities taking orders. Fruit will be delivered between Dec. 11 and Dec. 16. • A.L. Lotts PTA will host a Scholastic book fair and a Fall Family Night from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 29. Area crafters will be selling merchandise as well. For more information about the festival call Jodie Schwatzentraub at 671-2710.
