The Knoxville Police Department and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of three men charged with murdering the brother of Knox County Commissioner Diane Jordan.
A grand jury indicted 20-year Broderick Jerome Gipson of Harold Street and 35-year-old Darrell Dwight Beamon of Monroe Street of first-degree murder, felony murder, especially aggravated kidnapping, attempted especially aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. Their bonds are set at $500,000.
A third man, 23-year-old Stevorgo Scott Penson of Holston Drive was charged with especially aggravated kidnapping, attempted especially aggravated robbery and aggravated burglary. His bond is $15,000.
All three men have extensive criminal records involving drugs, assault and driving on a revoked license.
During the course of the investigation more than three and a half kilos of cocaine were seized. The District Attorney General’s office is working with federal authorities about prosecuting the cocaine possession.
Jordan’s brother, 41-year-old Kevin Taylor, a Bearden resident, was found by a passerby near the Tennessee Highway Patrol headquarters off Buckingham Road across from West Town Mall Tuesday, May 4.
Taylor had been shot once and either jumped or was thrown from a moving vehicle.
