CAK's Orr signs college letter

Mary Alice “M.A.” Orr (sitting in middle), a senior standout golfer at Christian Academy of Knoxville High School, celebrated her big college signing day surrounded by successful CAK golfers. Orr signed National Letter of Intent papers to play golf as a student/athlete at Belmont University of Nashville, Nov. 17, at CAK.

Orr and former Lady Warriors teammate Anna-Claire Daniels — who now plays golf for Florida Atlantic University — led the way as CAK won the Class A/AA TSSAA state championship in 2001 and finished second in 2002. Orr helped lead CAK to four straight state tournaments and undefeated regular seasons in 2002 and 2003. As a senior, Orr was District 3-A/AA individual champion in 2004 and was an All-KIL selection in 2002. In back are members of the CAK boys team who, in 2004, also enjoyed a perfect regular season record of 27-0 before finishing third in the state with a 32-2 record under the direction of head coach Brett Williams (not pictured). Back row, (left to right), are Sean O’Connor, Clint Suggs, Daniel Gooch and Andrew Ange. Alongside Orr on the front row, (left to right), are her CAK teammate, Abby Gilbert, and CAK boys golfer Brandt Robin.
