Lindsey reads for book drive
- Thu, Dec, 16, 2004
Knox County Schools superintendent Dr. Charles Lindsey served as a guest storyteller as part of the “Season’s Readings Holiday Book Drive” sponsored by Barnes & Noble and Verizon on Thursday, Dec. 2.
The special story-time event, held at Barnes & Noble on Kingston Pike, included Knoxville Mayor Bill Haslam (not pictured) as another guest reader. The goal of the “Season’s Readings Holiday Book Drive” is to collect one million books for one million children. Books will be collected at Barnes & Noble bookstores and Verizon locations through Friday, Dec. 31. All donated books will be distributed to area schools in need. Pictured along with Lindsey are Jann Fujimoto (foreground) and her children Elyse (left) and Andrew, and Amanda Sanders (background) and her daughter Tori. The book chosen for the storytelling session was “A Wish to be a Christmas Tree” by Colleen Monroe.
