Knoxville Christian earns first-ever high school victory

Knoxville Christian School picked up its first-ever victory in a high school sport last week thanks to its boys basketball team.

The KCS Knights defeated Clinch High School of Eidson (Hawkins County) 70-67 in overtime for its first win in six games this season.

“We were ecstatic,” head coach Rick Conley said. “(Though) a fledgling team and program, the guys have worked really hard. Really, only one game so far in the season have they really not been in.”

As for the age and class breakdown of Conley’s young 10-member KCS team, “I’ve got two seniors, but most everybody is under (age) sixteen,” the coach said.

Conley said David Amos and Andrew Bissell “are usually my leading two scorers,” along with Cory White, “my big three-point shooter.”

According to Conley, the KCS Lady Knights high school team was winless as of Dec. 15.
