U.S. Cellular to add positions
Sixty job slots to be created at West Knox location

To meet increasing demands caused by the growth of its business, U.S. Cellular announced plans to add 60 new jobs at its Knoxville Customer Care Center located at 800 Cornerstone Dr.

The facility currently employs more than 400 associates and serves U.S. Cellular customers in Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee and Maryland.

“At a time when our competitors are closing facilities and internationally out-sourcing customer service, we are proud to bring more jobs to the Knoxville area,” said John E. Rooney, U.S. Cellular president and CEO. “Our obsession with total customer satisfaction has been rewarded with a huge amount of new business. The investment we’re making and the new jobs we’re creating here are clear results of our success.”

“U.S. Cellular has played an integral role in the economy of Knox County since 1988,” said Knox County Mayor Mike Ragsdale. “U.S. Cellular is a responsible corporate citizen and we are thankful for their continued commitment to our community.”

U.S. Cellular currently operates five call centers, located in Medford, Ore., Tulsa, Okla., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Waukesha, Wis., and Knoxville. U.S. Cellular recently announced the opening of a sixth customer care center in Bolingbrook, Ill.

Chicago-based U.S. Cellular Corporation is a super-regional wireless company, serving more than 4.8 million customers in 150 markets in 26 states. With 2003 sales of $2.42 billion, U.S. Cellular maintains one of the industry’s highest levels of customer satisfaction by emphasizing customer support, quality network coverage and a comprehensive range of wireless products and services.
