• The Parkwest Comprehensive Breast Center received its mammography facility certificate from Mammography Quality Standards Act of the Food and Drug Administration. The designation certifies that the center provides quality mammography services, ensuring that mammographies are safe and reliable in helping to detect breast cancer in its earliest, most treatable stages. • Fleenor Security has completed training to become a certified Ambassador for the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Representatives from Fleenor Security will now serve as informational resources and educators to the local community, providing guidance on handling crisis situations and how NCMEC can help. Employees of Fleenor Security recently completed the Ambassador training at the First Alert Professional/Honeywell Authorized Dealers meeting. More than 350 independent companies with 500 dealer locations throughout the world comprise the First Alert Professional/Honeywell Authorized Dealer network. These dealers are known for their commitments to community service and keeping the neighborhoods in which they serve safe and secure. Honeywell became a corporate sponsor of the NCMEC in 2003 when the two organizations developed the Got 2B Safe! Think Smart and Take Charge! program, a nationwide initiative that educates 8-to-10-year-olds and their parents on how to prevent child abduction and exploitation. Since its inception, Got 2B Safe! has been used in 135,000 classrooms, reaching 1.6 million elementary students throughout the United States. • Dr. David Gerkin has been selected as the recipient of the Ambulatory Surgery Center medical director of the year award. The award will be presented on Wednesday, March 10, at the American Association of Ambulatory annual meeting in Reno, Nev. Gerkin is the ASC medical director at the Tennessee Valley Eye Center located at 140 Capital Drive.

• Agri Feed Pet Supply, located at 5716 Middlebrook Pike is hosting a “Most Picturesque Pet Photo Contest” to benefit the Young Williams Animal Center Spay/Neuter program, located in Maryville. The contest features pet photographs submitted by area pet owners. The photographs will be on display at the store through Saturday, Dec. 31. Vistors can vote on their favorite pet photo. One penny equals one vote and one dollar equals one-hundred votes. All of the proceeds will be donated to the spay/neuter program.
