The town of Farragut is poised for another election on the heels of last November’s presidential fete.

Up for grabs are the mayor, alderman Ward I and alderman Ward II seats currently held by Eddy Ford, Constance Rutenber and Mike Haynes, respectively.

The Knox County Election Commission reports that the town has about 15,000 registered voters within its boundaries.

Over the past years, many have complained through these pages and presstalk of disappointment and struggle with the town’s governing bodies.

Well, now is the time to take a stand and be heard.

Now is the time to get motivated and either get a petition and run for an office, or turn out at the polls and vote for either the status quo or change.

The election process is a gift from the many lives that have been sacrificed for our freedom. Those who don’t use the gift silence their voices in the community by not participating.

The bottom line is: vote for your convictions or learn to live with others’ choices.
