• American Fidelity Bank announced the addition of Bill Charles, Linda Cox and Kathleen Smith to its real estate lending division. Formerly with Regions Bank and First Tennessee Bank, Charles, Cox and Smith have worked together for more than 15 years, specializing in residential construction lending in Knox and surrounding counties. The team is now serving its customers from American Fidelity Banks location at 10201 Parkside Drive.

• Beverly Bonner has been named assistant vice president for Student Services and Multicultural Affairs at Roane State. She has worked at the community college since 1987, most recently as dean of Student Services and Multicultural Affairs. The winner of the college’s 1990 Student Advisor Award, Bonner also was named Roane State’s Administrator of the Year in 2002. She served as 2004 chairman of the Tennessee Board of Regents Student Affairs Sub-Council. Bonner’s current work includes coordinating the college’s annual Multicultural Day events and other diversity activities. During her tenure at Roane State, Bonner also has worked as an academic development counselor, a psychology instructor, associate dean of social sciences, and director of counseling/career/disability services. She holds a master’s in clinical psychology from Fisk University. Bonner and her husband, Alexander “Ray” Bonner, live in Farragut. They have two children, Layla and Brian.

• Bill Fuqua has been named executive vice president for Financial Services at Roane State. He has worked at the community college since 1981. A Farragut resident, Fuqua is a certified public accountant who holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Tennessee Technological University. As executive vice president, Fuqua serves as the chief business and finance officer of the college, and provides managerial oversight for the business office, purchasing, human resources, telephone services, college-wide physical plant operations and capital projects; and information technologies. Before his recent promotion, Fuqua was vice president for Financial Services. From February 2000 through October 2001, he served as interim president of the college. Fuqua’s wife, Sheila, is principal of Gresham Middle School in Knox County.
