• Knox Area Rescue Ministries will host its annual Golf Classic Friday, April 15, at Egwani Farms in Rockford. This tournament is a major fund-raiser KARM holds annually to underwrite the services it offers. Cost is $175 for individual players, $600 for a team of four. For more information, contact Mary Beth Ramey at 673-6540 ext. 141. KARM seeks to rescue the poor and needy and restore lives in Jesus' name. Basic life-sustaining services are augmented by supportive case management, group counseling and opportunities for education and job skills training that give people a chance to become self-sufficient, productive members of society.

• Knoxville Christian School’s high school boys basketball team picked up two late January victories before a Feb. 8 loss. David Brainard Christian fell victim to the Knights 65-46 Jan. 25. David Amos and Andrew Bissell led KCS with 24 points each. Other scorers: Clayton Woodward 12, Glenn Honeycutt four and Peter Coffin one. Knoxville Baptist Christian was the next KCS victim, 58-38, Jan. 28, as Glenn Honeycutt’s 25 points led the way. Other scorers: Bissell 18, Amos 12, Colin Graves two and Coffin one. Gate City Christian (Va.) squeaked out a 90-88 overtime win vs. the Knights Feb. 8 despite 40 points from Amos. Other Knight scorers: Woodward 20, Glenn Honeycutt 14, Bissell 12 and Danny Honeycutt two.

• Greater Knoxville Tennis Association is having Open Registration for tennis players of all skill levels and ages, including USA League teams, beginning at 2.5 level (beginners) through 5.0 level (elite players). Play begins in March and ends in June. Winners advance to state championships in Hendersonville. Sign up as an individual, and league officials will find you a team; or sign up as a group. Neighborhoods or churches can get a group together. This year, for the first time, a weekday morning league will be introduced to the USA League program. Players must be 19 years of age.
