• A.L. Lotts Elementary School will celebrate International Children’s Day Wednesday, March 9. A large part of this event is the sharing of artwork made by children from other countries and from previous sister cities San Francisco, Washington D.C. and Atlanta. The theme of the art is children, peace, family and friendship among children of the world. The artwork will be displayed the first two weeks of March. If you have the ability to obtain artwork for the display, include the title of the piece, child’s name and age, art teacher’s name, school, city and country. • Pellissippi State Technical Community College is sponsoring its second annual open house for high school aged home-schooled students Tuesday, Feb. 22. The open house is designed to acquaint students and parents with Pellissippi State’s dual enrollment programs, in which high school students can earn college credits from community college courses. College faculty and staff members will be present to meet with students. The open house will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m., in the Goins Auditorium on Pellissippi’s Hardin Valley Road campus. • Meghan Sims of Knoxville was named to the high dean’s list at Millikin University in Decatur, Ill., for the 2004 fall semester. To be eligible, students must complete at least 12 graded credits during the semester and earn a grade point average of 4.0.

• Matthew Lee Chen, an arts and science major at Vanderbilt University, was named to the dean’s list for the 2004 fall semester. Chen is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Chen of Knoxville.

• Denise Koessler of Farragut was named to the dean’s list for the 2004 fall semester at the College of Wooster in Wooster, Ohio.

• Kevin Christopher Webb of Knoxville was named to the dean’s list for the 2004 fall semester at the Georgia Institute of Technology.

• Justin Michael Koozer of Knoxville was named to the dean’s list for the 2004 fall semester at Charleston Southern University in Charleston, S.C.

Farragut Intermediate School PTA announces the Second Annual Family Fun Night from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday, March 4, at FIS. This fund-raising event will include a family dinner, dance, silent auction, games, moonwalks, contests with prizes and a bake sale. All monies raised will go toward technology improvements. This event is open to the public.
