Mercedez-Benz ‘Drive Your Future’ scholarships being offered currently

Mercedes-Benz of Knoxville invites local students to apply for Drive Your Future scholarships, which supports first generation college-bound or vocational-bound students.

The Mercedes-Benz USA Scholarship Program “... is so vital because we know that a postsecondary education opens up so many opportunities for a young person,” said Samuel Furrow, owner of Mercedes-Benz of Knoxville. “To help a student become the first from their family to go to college and knowing the impact that will have on the student’s future is something we are proud to support.”

Drive your future has committed $1 million for the 2005 scholarship program. Five hundred students from across the country will receive a one-time, $2,000 scholarship. The awards will be based on financial need and exceptional achievement in the areas of academic performance, leadership and community activities.

“For first generation college-bound students, particularly those from underserved communities, the availability of financial assistance can be a deciding factor in whether or not to continue their education,” said Marilyn Rundell, vice-president of Scholarship America. “Scholarships, like Drive Your Future, put a postsecondary education within reach.”

Students may visit www.mbusa.com/drivefuture to learn more about the program and access application materials through March 31.

Scholarship winners will be announced in May.
