• Casi Joelle Flordeliza, age 13, daughter of Cindy Flordelize Fiscina, has been chosen as a state finalist in the National American Miss Tennessee Pageant to be held Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 3 and 4, in Franklin. The pageant isfor girls ages 4 through 18 and the winner will receive a $1,000 cash award and transportation to compete in the national pageant at Disneyland in California. Flordeliza plays flute for the Farragut Middle School band and is also in the FMS chorus. She enjoys music, roller blading, ice skating, spending time with her family and friends and writing.

• Area students have been named to the dean’s list of Furman University, Greenville, S.C., for the winter 2005 term. They are: Christina L. Boncek, Tyler L. Johnson, Adam H. Murphree, Eric W. Prenshaw, Danielle S. Rapkowicz, Lauren G. Senesac, Christopher M. Switft, Jennifer M. Ward and Matthew R. West. Students must earn a grade point average of 3.4 or higher and be a full-time student to be named to the dean’s list.

• Deadline for entering the 13th Annual Mathmindedness Contest, sponsored by David Williams Algebra Tutoring, is Thursday, March 31. The contest is open to all areas students high school age and under. Registration is free and entry forms may be obtained by mailing a stamped, self-addressed business envelope to Dr. David Williams, 505 Hollywood Dr., Knoxville, TN 37919.
