New Ballpark lights

Things will be looking a lot brighter for the Farragut High School baseball team — literally — hopefully sometime this week, said FHS head coach Tommy Pharr. Six new light poles with 10 bulbs each were installed earlier this month around John Heatherly Field at The Ballpark at Farragut. All that was left to do at the beginning of the week is the wiring, said Pharr. At a cost of approximately $60,000 according to Pharr, “Knox County Schools paid the downpayment on it, half,” the coach said. “We’ll just be making a payment with the power bill each month.” One light pole (the new one is the taller of the two) is shown in place behind the visiting dugout during the Turn Back the Clock game between FHS and Oak Ridge Thursday, April 14. Pharr said the team and the FHS Dugout Club have been seeking to upgrade the field’s lighting “for a couple of years.”
