Mitchell to Ivy League

Webb School varsity tackle/defensive end Phillip Mitchell signed with Columbia University in February. A two-year starter on both the offensive and defensive lines, this 6-foot-4, 245 pound senior was recently named to a pair of Knox County and Knox area All-star teams. A National Merit Commended Scholar, Mitchell was also nominated for the coveted Wendy’s High School Heisman Award, recognizing the nation’s top high school senior citizen-scholar-athlete. Mitchell ended the regular season of his senior year with 30 solo tackles and 15 assists. Seated alongside Phillip Mitchell are his mother and father, Carolyn and Mike Mitchell.
