Farragut Vols roll in Roundup

Sweeping through the tournament round, the Farragut Vols 11U (age 11-and-under) youth baseball team captured the East Tennessee Roundup in Loudon earlier this month. After pool play, the Vols marched to the title by defeating the Farragut Panthers 12-9, Cookeville DaimondKings 5-4 and the Blue Ridge Rangers of Asheville, N.C., 12-1 in the championship game. Coach Mark Newby praised the pitching of Tyler Hill, A.J. Simcox, Jordan Newby, Tyler Harrison and Blake Williams. Among the hitters praised were Cole Selecman and Zach Wall, who each batted over .700. Defensive, catcher Josh Pittenger and second baseman Chipper Walker were among those singled out.
