‘DuLotts’ ribbon-cutting

A.L. Lotts Elementary School held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday, April 25, to officially open its new playground, “DuLotts.” A fund-raising campaign, centered around the movie Shrek and the song “I’m a Believer,” helped to kick-off the project last September. Funds from coupon book sales, the PTA and the community were instrumental in raising the $61,000 needed. Pictured with Emily Lenn/Princess Lennona, Lotts principal, Mardee Miller, assistant principal and Shrek are the coupon book sales winners from each grade level in no particular order: Kindergartner Brianna Wilcox Barnett, second-grader Hunter Lewis, third-grader Hunter Stokley, fourth-grader Tori Scates and fifth-grader William Stokley. Not pictured is first-grader Savannah Stokley.
