West Side Story hits the streets this week
Annual farragutpress photo contest winner’s photo graces cover

The staff at farragutpress is proud to present its Spring edition of West Side Story.

Gracing the cover of the magazine is the first-prize winner of the farragutpress Annual Photography Contest held each summer.

Last year was the inagural year for the contest and it was met with great enthusiasm and support from the artists’ community of which Farragut abounds.

Deanna L. Williams photographed the winning entry of a young girl peeking from behind a tree.

We congratulate Deanna for a job well done and hope to see an entry from her in this year’s contest.

The Spring issue of West Side Story represents a change in the editorial content of the magazine.

In this issue, readers will find more thought provoking and informational stories.

The Spring issue covers such topics as: how and where to best take in a major league baseball game; a talk with Dr. Sandra Belmont about how presbyopia affects all who are 40 years old and above, and what can be done about it; traveling to Georgia’s Blue Ridge for that perfect get-away; Sushi, taking the fear out of eating raw fish; naturalist Stephen Lyn Bales talks about the annual pilgrimage to Blythe Ferry to visit with migrating sandhill cranes; a talk with decorator Christopher Lowell about trends; and last but not least a look at the designer knock-off market.

West Side Story is inserted inside this week’s farragutpress and also is available at the newspaper’s office at 11863 Kingston Pike.

The next issue of West Side Story will be published this Fall, in October, and promises to bring more of what you’ll see this week.

The cover spots for the Fall and next Spring’s issues of West Side Story are still open.

Those spots will be filled by the winners of this summer’s farragutpress Annual Photography Contest.

This year the Grand Prize winner will land on the Fall issue of West Side Story and the First Prize winner will find its place on the Spring issue. The second prize winner will grace the cover of the annual farragutpress FYI publication published in late summer.

So, look for entry information and start shooting.
